This Is Why You Are Always So Tired After The Weekend

You’re giving yourself a jetlag

The weekend is the perfect time to take a break from a busy and stressful working week. We do this to our heart’s content. Sometimes we don’t even get out of bed until noon and we enjoy it to the fullest. Whether that’s very smart… Unfortunately not. In fact, it makes you even more tired.

You think you are starting a new week well rested, but as soon as the alarm goes off you still feel exhausted. Monday is a tough day for many, but why is it that you are not fully charged after a free weekend? It could have everything to do with your rhythm.

Jetlag

Chances are you go to bed and get up at about the same times during the week. That rhythm ensures that you wake up rested. There is also a good chance that you are much more flexible in this respect during the weekend. Going to bed later and getting up at a different time will disrupt your rhythm.

According to health coach Leen Steyaert, you suffer from a jet lag feeling when you go to bed and get up at different times during the weekend. So when the inner clock is shifted you don’t feel rested on Monday. At least, if the difference is greater than two hours.

If you suffer from the Monday blues, it is advisable to sleep and get up at set times.
